I used to support West Ham 64-71, Sverre Harrfeldt the most exciting rider I ever saw, closely followed by Christer Lofqvist. My younger brother was the mascot. And I worked on the track staff at Romford, brilliant times.
I used to go to Cardiff but can't stand the airhorns - 40-50,000 people cheering would make for a much better atmosphere in my opinion. It's a great occasion though, and last night's meeting was excellent.

I watched Ole Olsen and Bruce Penhill win the championship at the old Wembley stadium - '78 and '81 !

And Charley - I just Googled him and he is 87!

I was a rear gunner in a pram when my aunt and uncle took me over there, absolutely loved it and could hear the bikes from our bedroom window in East ham when the wind was running in the right direction - nothing beats that smell
